great resource July 10, 2009 Study bug 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Purchase this book, practice like mad, study hard, and you might pass the MTEL math subtest on the first time like I did. This book was invaluable and the price is right. Good luck!
Excellent test prep... January 12, 2010 CD 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's been a really long time since I was in school and had to study math. This book divided the material up nicely and I didn't get overwhelmed or intimidated. The MTEL test is hard, but this book taught me everything I needed to know to pass on my first attempt. Now, just need to find a teaching job :)
Wonderful prep -- I PASSED ! August 17, 2010 Teresa (Cambridge, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The MTEL03 General Curriculum Math is extremely difficult. Most of my friends failed, but not me. This book had lots of math - but the test does also. The sections were wellnewFini broken down and the explanations helped tremendously. I did email the author and she was very responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this book for preparing for this MTEL, especially if you are like me and had not seen most of that math since high school, if ever.
Thanks to this book I passed the Elementary Math MTEL exam! August 25, 2010 Joan Celebi 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was fantastic in helping me study for the Elementary Math MTEL. Everything that was on the exam was in this book! The explanations are clear and easy to understand. The examples and practice questions are written in similar language to the actual questions I had on my exam, including the open response questions. My advice is to start a couple of months before your test date, and study each chapter, page by page. The author's step-by-step approach makes it manageable. And she will answer questions by email, too! Thank you Mary! And good luck everyone on your exams!
Beware of typos! May 21, 2010 Hannah (Boston, MA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
So far, I'm finding this book helpful, EXCEPT FOR THE TYPOS. I'm pretty much starting from scratch, so when I found that my computations didn't match any of the answers in the book, I wasted 1/2 hour on each problem, trying to figure out what I had done wrong. Turns out the book was wrong. That's been pretty frustrating (particularly in chapter 2, practice 4). Other than those issues, the explanations are very clear and I seem to be learning what I need to.
